I don’t know about you, but I feel a considerable amount of joy whenever I stumble upon a really good basic piece. Basics are classic wardrobe essentials and sometimes it can be difficult to find a really, really good one that fits you just right and doesn’t cost a fortune. Everlane, widely known for their ethical practices and quality pieces for a fraction of the price, has graciously sent me their basics kit—some of their must-have favorites for that effortless life, and I can’t get enough.
The Cotton Box-Cut Pocket Tee
A basic tee is one of the simplest pieces, yet I seem to struggle with finding the perfect one. It’s too long or short, the material is too thick or not thick enough, it’s unflattering and makes me look frumpy—I can go on and on about my many mistrials with finding the perfect one, but I think I finally found it or the closest thing to it. The pleasantly soft and lightweight material complements the slightly oversized, boxy fit. It’s not so roomy that it’s unflattering but it’s roomy enough so that it’s comfortable and adds a relaxed vibe. I think it looks great both tucked in or out and love it worn casually with jeans or dressed up with a blazer or beautiful coat. I mean, the options are really endless with a white tee. There are multiple colors available and I found that the white color is ever so slightly on the sheer side, but it’s nothing that a good nude bra can’t fix. Based on other customer reviews, the other colors are not see-through at all.
Everlane calls The Bodysuit the ultimate base layer and it really holds up to that claim. Super soft and sporting a gorgeous low back, it’s such a great layering piece under blazers, sheer clothing, and it even looks good on its own with high-waisted pants! I think I could have gone down one size, however, as it was a little loose on the straps and back where it curves.
The Day Heel
Gone are the days when two hours into wearing your heels, your feet are screaming in pain. I think we’ve all been there at some point and the Day Heel makes for a great solution. It’s available in multiple colors and material so you can find own that suits your personal style. The elasticized back is awesome at providing more comfort and eliminates the back from digging into your heels. I personally love the color of these cognac ones. I have an attraction to anything in this color spectrum and find that they are the perfect balance between pop of color and neutral.
The Cheeky Straight Jean
These jeans, wow. Okay, it was love at first try-on for me. It’s my first time trying Everlane denim and I don’t know if I’ve ever worn a more flattering pair of jeans. I can’t remember the last time I tried something on that gave an immediate boost of confidence. It hugs me in all the right places and the pocket placements give the appearance of a more lifted, rounder butt. Who doesn’t want that, right? It’s made with Japanese denim and features a tiny amount of stretch for max comfort, but in no way do they stretch or sag throughout the day, which is my issue and annoyance with 99% of the jeans I own! You can sign me up to get this pair in multiple colors. But no really, I’ve already signed up for the waitlist.
Things have started to cool down earlier than expected here in good ‘ol Phoenix. Since the sudden drop in temps the past couple of weeks, I’ve been having a total fall moment. Gimme all the boots, comfy sweaters, fall-inspired treats, and berry lippies because this is my favorite time of the year!
In partnership with Clarins, I was given the opportunity to test out three lipsticks from their popular Joli Rouge line. What’s awesome about this collection is that there are 20 shades to choose from (which is impressive) and each shade is available in three different finishes, so there’s something for everyone and every mood.
The Joli Rouge is your classic satin finish lipstick. Very pigmented with a comfortable wear, and a fan-favorite for a good reason.
The Joli Rouge Brilliant is more luminous with a sheer, buildable wash of color. This is, in my opinion, the perfect everyday lipstick for those who prefer the natural tinted lips look before running errands or heading off to work. You can definitely apply more layers for a more saturated pout.
The Joli Rouge Velvet is a bold and highly pigmented matte that feels creamy and lightweight. It’s one of the most comfortable mattes I’ve tried and has strong staying power.
All of the Joli Rouge lipsticks contains ingredients such as Organic Marsh Samphire extract and oils to protect lips and keep them well hydrated during its long-lasting wear. And by long-lasting, I mean long-lasting. I needed the help of some elbow grease to remove the swatches from my arm and the sheer finish took me by surprise with its staying power.
Below are swatches to show how each finish looks during actual wear. Note how one layer of the Brilliance finish leaves a fresh, natural tint and the color is deepened, but not overdone, with two layers.
Growing up, my mom always reminded me to drink milk since I still had a lot of growing to do. Well, I don’t think the milk helped much because I reached 5’2 around 6th grade and that was it for me. How did I go from being one of the tallest to one of the shortest in the span of one year?! I used to think that being short was a bad thing, but I’ve really come to embrace and own my short stature. If you think about it, there are a lot of pros to being petite! For one, my legs don’t get as cramped on a plane and two, I can wear any heels I want and still be shorter than potential dates.
Yes, being petite definitely has its perks, but it can also pose problems when shopping for clothes. A lot of my favorite stores don’t have a petite section so the trendy “cropped” jeans are just jeans, jacket sleeves go way past the wrist, and the cute mini skirt? Not so mini when it falls just above your knees.
If you’re a petite gal and have experienced some of the same struggles, you need to check out Petite Studio – a womenswear brand created by and made for petites. I’m floored by their current collection and continue to be amazed by each new arrival. They offer the perfect mix of on-trend pieces and classic staples, but the biggest thing to take away from here is their quality. Quality in their clothes, ethics, and overall genuineness (check out their Christmas Toy Drive here).
I’m wearing the Staten Light Tan Coat here and fell in love with the minimalist design and the touch of elegance with the draped lapels. I love that I can easily style the coat for a casual or dressy look, and the beautiful light tan color matches with everything! I went for more of a casual outfit with this striped navy blouse and navy pinstripe trousers. For the shoes, I’m wearing nude bow flats, but I think white sneakers would’ve also looked great for this look!

Today’s outfit is a fairly casual one. I own about a million cardigans but this navy one from Forever 21 is far different from all of them. I really love how long it is and the zipper detail instead of buttons is a nice change. Paired with the cardigan are these patchwork slim jeans from H&M. In addition to the distressed details and dark patches on both legs, these jeans feature a really cute raw hem that I, unfortunately, had to roll up because of my short legs!
The star of this outfit has to be the Louis Vuitton bag courtesy of Trendlee, a great spot to find pre-owned luxury designer bags from brands such as Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Chloe, Celine, Chanel, Gucci, etc. The selection is massive and all of the bags are highly discounted with guaranteed authenticity. I’ve seen a lot of the same bags that are popularly worn by bloggers (like the Chloe bags) on the site, so this is perfect for anyone who is wanting to invest in a classic or trendy bag while also saving tons of money. My biggest concern about purchasing something pre-owned is always the condition of the item. Thankfully, the site lists the condition of the bag, any imperfections, and provides plenty of high-quality pictures of the actual bag so you know exactly what to expect and skip over anything that doesn’t meet your standards.

It’s finally here! Thanksgiving is just a few hours away and I couldn’t be more excited to stuff my belly with delicious food and spend quality time with family. I find that Black Friday shopping is the best way to alleviate the painfully full feeling after an enormous meal and it’s really a win-win situation with all the great sales!
And speaking of sales, I partnered up with Century 21 to showcase outfits created with items I picked from their website. If you live in the New York area, you might have heard of and/or already shopped at their stores. If you aren’t too familiar, Century 21 is a department store offering tons of designer brands at really incredible prices. There’s something for everyone, so it’s a great place to shop for family, friends, significant others, children, the home, or yourself! I definitely recommend checking out their website and taking advantage of some of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales taking place this weekend!
This first outfit is menswear inspired with this open blazer that features leather patches on the elbows. The blouse underneath is all about the details with ruffles along the neckline and sleeves, velvet trims, and velvet self-tie. These 7 For All Mankind jeans were such a steal. I’ve been looking for straight cropped black pants with a raw hem and these are perfect, albeit a little too long. Nothing a quick hem can’t fix! I think I was most excited about these pointed burgundy oxfords. The dark red color is beautiful and the zipper detail, in place of lace-ups, gives the shoe a modern vibe.

The second look is definitely more of an everyday casual look. I love this open front trench and, again, I’ve been wanting a similar style coat. I constantly debated picking up a more affordable one in the $50 and under range. I’m so glad I didn’t. The discounted price for this trench (originally $218) was $44 and the overall quality significantly differs from the cheaper alternatives. Also from Century 21 are these gunmetal/silver loafers with fringe details. Not only are these incredibly versatile for wearing casually or dressed up, the metallic color is perfect for instantly adding interest to any outfit while still remaining relatively muted/neutral.
